No, you can open a non-registered or registered savings account with a zero balance.

You are only allowed one free withdrawal every calendar quarter:

  • Jan 1 to March 31
  • Apr 1 to Jun 30
  • Jul 1 to Sept 30
  • Oct 1 to Dec 31

A fee will be charged for every subsequent withdrawal within the same calendar quarter.

Your personal cheque can be made payable to either Oaken Financial or to yourself.

Upon receipt of your documentation and funds, it may take up to 5 business days depending on your method of account opening. Please allow a few extra days for any confirmations mailed via Canada Post to your address on file.

No, transfers of funds within the same registered plan will not be considered a withdrawal.

Please note that when funding your registered GIC from your registered savings account, the funds must come from the same product type (e.g., TFSA GIC can only be funded from a TFSA Savings Account).

All completed applications will be processed within 5 business days. Please allow sufficient time for mail to reach you after that.
